Mr. Asif Ibrahim is a prominent Bangladeshi business leader and Vice Chairman of Newage Group of Industries, a diversified business house specialising in ready-made garments, textiles and plastic products.

With over three decades of experience in manufacturing and exports, Mr. Ibrahim provides strategic leadership to Newage Group and drives operational excellence across its businesses, with a focus on maximising financial performance and supporting the Group’s long-term growth.

Leadership in Business, Sustainability & Private-Sector Development

Mr. Ibrahim is deeply committed to advancing policy reforms, accelerating economic recovery and embedding social responsibility within the private sector.

As a senior member of the Executive Council of the UNESCAP Sustainable Business Network (ESBN), he contributes to shaping and advancing the Asia-Pacific Green Deal, supporting businesses across the region in their transition towards sustainability.

He also serves voluntarily as a Core Committee Member of the Citizens’ Platform for SDGs Bangladesh, a nationwide civil society initiative dedicated to promoting and advancing the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Apparel Industry & Trade Associations

Mr. Ibrahim has served as a director of several leading trade and industry bodies in Bangladesh, including the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), and Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF).

He has also held directorships in the France-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFB), Bangladesh-Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTCCI), and Bangladesh-Philippines Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BPCCI).

His extensive engagement with trade and industry associations reflects his longstanding commitment to strengthening Bangladesh’s private sector, improving the business environment and supporting the competitiveness of the country’s export-oriented industries.

Over the course of his voluntary public service, Mr. Ibrahim has held several prominent leadership positions within Bangladesh’s business community.

He is a former President of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the founding former Chairman of Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD), Bangladesh’s first structured public-private dialogue platform.

He also served as President of the Bangladesh Professional Golfers Association (BPGA).

Through these leadership roles, Mr. Ibrahim has contributed to private-sector advocacy, public-private dialogue, investment-climate reforms and broader economic development in Bangladesh.

Leadership in Capital Markets

Mr. Ibrahim has held several significant leadership positions in Bangladesh’s capital market, including serving as Chairman of Chittagong Stock Exchange PLC (CSE).

His contributions to the development of the country’s capital-market ecosystem have also included directorships and governing roles in major market infrastructure and capital-market institutions, including Central Depository Bangladesh Ltd. (CDBL), Central Counterparty Bangladesh Ltd. (CCBL), Capital Market Stabilization Fund (CMSF), Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM), and Bangladesh Academy for Securities Markets (BASM).

Through these engagements, he has contributed to the governance, development and strengthening of Bangladesh’s capital-market infrastructure and institutional framework.
